Take the journey with us as we venture into the photographic past of the Great Lakes. The first leg of this Great Lakes journey finds us focused on the rich history of Northwest Michigan. From the early days of logging, shipping, fishing and farming to Northwoods travel, grand hotels and majestic beaches, we share with you the spirit and ingenuity of settlers, the birth of industries, and the lure of incredible natural beauty. It is our hope that by telling the stories of these images we will invoke not only an appreciation of the legacies and multi-cultural heritage that contributed to the building of America, but to also acknowledge and preserve the gift of the Great Lakes, its fragile shores and forested hills.
