When asked about his boxing style, Muhammad Ali aptly replied that he could "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." Seemingly light on his feet, Ali was known for his footwork and daunting blink-of-an-eye right jab when in the ring. His speed and agility would earn him three World Heavyweight Championship titles over a two-decade period. Between 1960 and 1980, he would win 56 of 61 fights, 37 by knock-out. Retired from boxing in 1981, Ali has become an American icon - not only for his boxing career, but for his philanthropic efforts as well. The Muhammad Ali Center in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky is not a monument to Ali's achievements, but rather a place where his ideals are fostered: "to promote respect, hope, and understanding, and to inspire adults and children everywhere to be as great as they can be."
