The Bobs

Generations of thrill seekers lost earrings, hats, change and other belongings on Riverview Park's famous ride, the "Bobs." The first hill of the Bobs stood a heart-stopping 85 feet from the ground. The steep drop sent nervous shrieks throughout the amusement park, continuing as the train careened through the sharp turns and perilous curves. A ride on the Bobs cost 25 cents, with a discounted second ride at 5 cents. Though everyone had their seating preference in the 11-car train, only the truly brave sat in the last car, as gravity caused a 150-pound man to weigh 15 pounds at the very top of the hill and 400 pounds on the way down. The ride kept the public coming back for more until the winter of 1967, when Riverview Park closed its doors and demolished the infamous "Bobs."
