Laugh Your Troubles Away

June 1952 "Laugh Your Troubles Away" on the Water Bug ride at Riverview Park! These two couples are playfully bouncing about and fulfilling the park's motto of laughing one's troubles away in gas-powered inner-tube boats. The park itself was in existence from 1904 to 1967. The Water Bug ride was built in 1948, and quickly became a favorite of park patrons, who could expect to be splashed as the other "bugs" bumped into them. The couple in the forefront, dressed in typical 1950s style, are clearly enjoying themselves at a park that was a landmark in Chicago history.
